Meet Jannalee Evans

Seeker ~ Therapist ~ Coach

Jannalee was born in Provo, Utah in the middle of LDS church culture.  The oldest girl of 11 children, she learned early how to take care of others. She married young and had her first baby just before graduating college with a BS in Psychology from BYU.  As a stay-at-home mom raising seven children, Jannalee believed that religion alone was sufficient for all the challenges of parenting and life.  She had been taught to believe that religious practices and faith could solve any problem.  But when one of their children had a mental health crisis, Jannalee painfully discovered that she didn’t have the tools or ability to handle what was happening.  She felt helpless and confused, not knowing where to turn.  In order to survive this challenge, Jannalee turned to therapy for the first time and engaged in a process that became an awakening.  She found that her beliefs and patterns were not blessing her life and, in fact, were causing damage to herself and her children as well.  One of the most important ideas that Jannalee learned in this awakening was that perfection is not an achievable goal, even though that had been her main objective since childhood.  She learned that we are each on a journey of lifelong discovery and growth, where there is no flawless end.  Who knew?

Once Jannalee discovered the power and capacity of therapeutic work to heal and help humans to develop, Jannalee wanted to become a provider and share what she has learned with others.  She went back to school for her master’s in counseling and became a licensed counselor in her home state, Arizona.  Along with her emotional healing journey, Jannalee began to discover the wide world of spirituality, separate from what she learned in religion.  Where she was taught to worship only a father god, Jannalee became acquainted with the feminine divine.  Where she was taught to trust the church to teach the truth, she learned to trust her own internal wisdom.  Where she was taught that spiritual exploration could be dangerous, she fell in love with the expansiveness of continual questioning, listening and learning.

Jannalee currently specializes in emotional healing, spiritual exploration, healing religious and childhood trauma, and couples connection and growth.  Her viewpoint is that life is about personal development, becoming and creating who we are, and contributing to the universal whole.  She is passionate about relationships because being intentional in a partnership not only helps create a relationship worth being in, but it is another way to develop personally.  In fact it is beautifully designed to do just that, if we let it.

Jannalee loves puzzles, the smell of orange blossoms, the ocean, rivers, lakes and streams, watercolor painting, fresh baked bread, any food that somebody else prepares, the sun on her face, thunderstorms and grandchildren.
